While I agree their website is sooo Stone Age, it’s totally false that they don’t offer an option for a purely free checking account. I’m neither a promoter nor detractor, just in the passive wrote: Never heard of any bank or CU do that, I mean is that even possible?! Yeah their credit card offerings suck nuts and at the same time their leadership could use some change but they aren’t as bad as you’ve potrayed them to be. Also your claim about them charging a fee for online banking is absolutely ridiculous (I’m sorry) and I feel like u pulled that one outta thin air. I’ve been banking with them as my primary institution for a few years now and do have the basic echecking account but never in my entire time have I been charged a monthly maintenance fee. Perhaps mail in your closure and in your explaination as to why you're closing your accounts, explain to them that they obviously can't read a credit report properly and make a decision, and also your denial letter from them with the letter. I share your frustration OP, and you're allowed to do what you want, but I'd suggest moving your DD to Navy and dropping NASA first thing in the morning. Nothing like a financial institution (especially a CU) that has higher fees than the others with terrible technology and a terrible website. So true! Dead on on the website though! wrote: Perhaps mail in your closure and in your explaination as to why you're closing your accounts, explain to them that they obviously can't read a credit report properly and make a decision, and also your denial letter from them with the wrote: I think this is the first time I've ever researched NASA FCU and I can tell you I'd never use them in a million years. Look at this, they even charge fees for online banking LOL. In addition their credit card options stink. I understand in many cases direct deposit can waive the fee, but if a CU is truly putting their members first, they shouldn't have a monthly maintenance fee attached to their checking account. Any CU that doesn't offer an option for a purely free checking account isn't worth it (and yes I'm looking at you too, Penfed). The credit union doesn't even offer purely free checking. While they're at it, how about hiring someone to design the website so it looks like we're in 2017 instead of 1993. Only then will the employees consider that members are owners of the institution and treat them better. Apparently the members need to gut the entire board of directors for fresh leadership. I've only read bad information about them on this board. NASA FCU doesn't seem understand the difference between a bank and a credit union apparently.
